So it’s official – we’re residents of Southern California!  We are absolutely loving it so far, especially since it shares way more similiarites with Florida than Raleigh did.  The timing was absolutely perfect because the Vans U.S. Open of Surfing is taking place and we have been able to catch some of the heats!!!  I have been waiting for the right time to pick Sugar & Shine back up, and it’s finally here.  This year has been quite rough so far, but things are definitely looking up and I’m excited for the months to come!  Here are some of the highlights from our first few days here:

It’s been a while, but there has been a TON that has happened!!!  My husband and I recently moved (a process that ended up taking about a week) and we have been settling in and trying to figure out how to lay out our new place.  I’ve also been work work working a bunch and finalized my application to NC State’s Masters in Textiles program, and guess what – I GOT IN! So exciting.  This summer is definitely going to be ridiculously fun with a few beach trips coming up – more like surf trips.  I can’t wait to get back in the water after a year or so!  It will definitely be a repeat learning experience, but I can’t wait for it.  Stay on the lookout for outfit posts coming up this week!

So, I will admit that I have been delinquent in my posting over the past month or so, but my absence is about to end!  I will be married in 10 days and will no longer have to worry about wedding planning or wedding shopping.  I mean, I love some good old fashioned shopping, but wedding shopping has absolutely taken over my purchasing.  Despite my fixation on nuptial purchases, I did manage to snag a few things for myself over the last month:

January/February Purchases

Rip Curl Venture Dress // Seahorse Cards // Sam & Libby D’Orsay Flats // Aztec Maxi // Lia Sophia Ring (thrifted)

I’ve made a bunch of other purchases to prepare for our honeymoon- and no, I did not attack Victoria’s Secret like a mad woman- which included stocking up on my absolute favorite sun screen EVER: Sun Bum.  I can’t wait to post pictures when everything is said and done – expect them soon!

Endless Summer

Anorak: J Crew, Chambray Button Down: Target, Skinnies: ASOS, Scarf: American Eagle, Bag: Rebecca Minkoff (F/W 12 – super hard to find), Watch: La Mer Collections (limited edition, but similar here), Flats: Target, Sunnies: Franco Sarto

Let me just say, I will always be a Florida girl at heart, and I will always love the tropics.  As I begin my journey to adulthood, which includes a “real” job, I sincerely hope that Travis and I will end up in a warm climate again, and that I will find a way to meld my love for fashion and my love for surfing and the surf industry.  Who knows what can happen, right?  It’s a new year filled with new opportunities.
