Prepping for our trip to San Diego has given me summer fever, and I just can’t wait to escape the frosty Raleigh weather!  This week’s #WIWW is absolutely California-inspired, with everything from 70s sandals to high waisted shorts and a little exotic bling.  To me, nothing says California more than a brightly colored crop top, and this intricately decorated tote would be perfect for traveling or even just for a day at the beach.  As much as I want to shop for new things pre-trip, I’m stoked to save some money and pick up a few things while I’m out there.  Nothing beats some California shopping, right?!

XOXO,

The temperature is dropping and the leaves are falling, which means one thing: accessory season has begun!  Cold weather may mean bundling up in layers, but fall and winter are possibly the best seasons to really let your accessories take center stage.  I mean, the layers-on, layers-off dilemma can truly challenge a wardrobe, but the right accessories can help your outfit feel complete in all conditions.  I really love this dress from H&M as a base piece because it adds a lot of visual interest – plus it can serve as the platform for your entire outfit!  Fun accessories are great, and this Betsey Johnson beanie is definitely not short on fun.  Neutral colored accessories don’t have to be boring, and these chained boots and See by Chloe bag are super interesting and versatile.  Jewelry is another great way to top off a layered look, and a whimsical piece or two can absolutely make your outfit!

Grey has always been one of my favorite colors, and this coat and skirt from H&M make me fall in love all over again with the shade. Plus I think the fringe on the skirt is just so fun – like Kate Moss meets a 20s flapper!  I love simple, elegant jewelry, and these two pieces from Bauble Bar are quite great; the whimsical details really make them.  I’ve been craving a pair of blue heels ever since I saw SJP wear a pair in SATC The Movie, and I love that these are simple enough to wear in your daily life.  Finally, I’ve been a (wee) bit obsessed with finding a great card case, and it’s kind of difficult to find one in a bright, fabulous color.  This Tory Burch case would be absolutely perfect!

This week I’m craving a mixture of trendy and classic pieces.  Every girl needs a great quilted bag, and these two are positively fabulous – who doesn’t love a little Michael Kors or Rebecca Minkoff, right?  Fringe is all over the place now, and I’ve particularly fallen for Bauble Bar’s tassel bracelet.  It’s a refreshing take on the trend with similar aesthetics.  PLUS, I imagine it would make almost any outfit POP!  You can’t beat a studded heel for the office or a night out, and pairing them with jeans and a great leopard top would be a match made in heaven.  Finally, you all know I love a good sequined piece, and this H&M dress is a perfect balance of glitz and glam.

What have you been craving lately?

Summertime is officially here and it’s absolutely glorious!!! I love mixing light fabrics and exotic accessories to celebrate the gorgeous summer weather.  Being from Miami, summer is my favorite season, and the outfit possibilities are endless!  Here, I mixed my favorite faux cargo shorts with a high-low chiffon top and striped jute espadrilles while romping around Raleigh this Father’s Day with Travis.  Now that we’re settling down into our new Raleigh home, I’ll be able to post our adventures in the Triangle!  I can’t wait!

XOXO,

Happy Monday!

Cropped Anorak: Roxy, Denim Sleeveless Button-down: thrifted, Grey Tank: Ambiance Apparel, Neon Tank: Target, Skinnies: Levi’s, Handbag: Loeffler Randall (perfect alternative here), Flats: Nine West (these Corso Como flats are darling, too!), Necklace: Isabel Marant for H&M, Arm party: Renegade bracelets and handcrafted bracelets (by me), Watch: La Mer Collections (similar)

Layers, layers, layers is the name of the game!  Layering is the perfect way to add some color to a winter ensemble.  Unfortunately winter lines tend to be devoid of bright color, but you can add some brights back in by using striking colored tanks and accessories.  Another way to add some color to an outfit: light colored denim elements.  Now, you need to be careful when combining denim (we don’t want a Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake denim fiasco, now).  If you plan on wearing two denim pieces in the same outfit, make sure they aren’t similar colors AND make sure there is a buffer zone between denims.  By this I mean make sure that you have at least one or two other fabrics/textures either over or under the denim pieces.  If you remember that, you’re golden!

XOXO,

BONUS: Here’s a little song inspiration for your winter layering!

Pajama Party

Top: Grace, Slouchy Pants: Target (there’s a great knit harem pant on ASOS), Flats: Nine West (similar here), Handbag: World Market, Necklace: H&M, Sunnies: Franco Sarto

When I first saw fashionistas and celebs donning daytime pajamas, I wasn’t on board for the trend, but I have found my own take on the fall trend that is comfortable and a bit less eccentric.  Though I am definitely a big fan of eccentric outfits, I figure a comfortable look called for a comfortable feeling to accompany it.  To achieve an everyday “pajama”, I paired slouchy pants with an oversized top.  To make sure I didn’t look completely bed-worthy, I made sure my top was more fitted in the arms and paired two different fabric types together- a knit and a shimmery polyester.  The crowning jewel on my daily pajama is a pair of smoking flats that are just comfortable enough to give a slipper vibe, yet bold enough to not be sentenced to a life of indoor pursuits.

XOXO,

Lite Bright

Kimono: H&M (in store), Tank: H&M, Skinnies: ASOS, Handbag: Kate Landry (old), Sandals: Bamboo, Sunnies: LC Lauren Conrad, Meow bracelet: BCBGeneration (just got mine on sale, but loving this one and this one!)

If you have never experienced a Florida summer, you are missing so much.  The high today is 75 and the air is fine, which means it was time to peel off the winter layers and let loose.  I snagged this neon pink kimono from H&M yesterday and I LOVE it (there is a huge sale going on at H&M right now that you should really check out).  Seriously, I dug it out of an overstuffed rack and fell in love immediately.  I’ve never been particularly fond of neon clothing, but there’s just something about a neon kimono that feels so right.

This little cutie was trying to photo bomb me like crazy today. What can I say? She's a diva ;)

The tasting for our wedding was yesterday, and it was just fabulous!  Even though my fiance couldn’t come down to Florida with me, it was still fun to be at our venue and pick seating charts, entrees, etc.  I can’t believe that I’m getting married in 2 1/2 months!  There is still so much to do, but I’m sure my excitement will get the momentum going again.

Rainy days always make me want to wear comfortable clothing, and this is my take on classic American comfort.  There’s nothing more American than a little red, white, and blue, and there’s just something about a camel coat that brings Jackie O to mind.  I combined a navy and white striped sweater with a gorgeous red scarf to achieve a patriotic feel without looking like it was the 4th of July.  I jazzed this outfit up a bit with a crystal statement necklace and two-tone handbag to add a little visual interest.

With finals almost over, and Christmas almost here, I can’t wait to add some new photo locations to my repertoire!  I’ve been exploring some locations around Raleigh lately, and I will have some new sights to share over the next week or so when I go down to Florida for wedding planning (Eeek! Less than 3 months until I’m MARRIED!)
