Last night I was fortunate enough to meet some absolutely wonderful Raleigh bloggers at the first ever Raleigh Bloggers Dinner.  Kate of Sara Kate Styling organized the whole thing, and she was able to get a ton of local Raleigh vendors to help create a gorgeous evening!  I’ve included a few photos, but I can’t wait to see all the photos that Kendall took – she’s an amazing photographer (remember that name, Raleigh brides!).  I was particularly in love with the place settings from Classic Party Rentals and the monogrammed wine glasses from Swagger gifts.  I searched all over for gold plates and flatware when I was planning my wedding in Florida, and it’s great to know that brides in Raleigh can easily find such beautiful tableware.

Ok, confession time: I do not own wine glasses.  I know, I know – what’s wrong with me?  Well, now I have the perfect break-proof wine glass for sipping vino after work.  I’m still searching for the perfect set, because occasionally someone other than me will totally want wine, but I have to say that this cute little stemless glass does the job perfectly for this party of one!

Muscle tanks have always been a challenge for me because I’m on the busty side, but I’m so thankful that I’ve finally found one that works for my body type!  I never thought I would be able to make this style top a part of my wardrobe, but I found the perfect cut muscle tank at Lee’s Fab’rik event in Chapel Hill, NC this past week.  Of course, I had to grab this same tank in black as well, so be prepared to see my fashion repeat!

This past week I attended the launch party of a thriving clothing line that launched for the first time in a physical retail store.  Démodé Clothing is an amazing urban sportswear line that is young and absolutely HOT, and they chose the perfect Raleigh location to make North Carolinians’ dreams come true- Estate Boutique.  What makes Démodé Clothing so perfect is its simplicity and attention to detail- I mean, what is more American than a classic t-shirt with carefully chosen typography?  What I love about this line is that it just FEELS so classic American, and it hits so close to home.  This collection is like a mixture of classic American, urban chic, and Marc Jacobs punk, and all with an extremely personal touch.  And the best part?  Démodé Clothing is a local Raleigh-based company with epic potential.  Honestly, Estate Boutique and Démodé Clothing are exactly what a growing city like Raleigh, NC needs- something to break the proverbial Southern preppy atmosphere and push the fashion envelope in a Southern city.

I’m so excited to finally get to explore downtown Raleigh!  Now, Raleigh isn’t the most urban city in the world, but with the influx of 20- and 30-somethings the city is quickly changing and becoming more and more like a true city.  With this comes an increase in smaller, unique businesses that reflect what it truly means to live in an urban area, which brings me to some exciting news: DEMODE clothing is launching their Melange collection at Estate Boutique this week!  Now for those who don’t know, DEMODE clothing is a young urban clothing company based out of Raleigh, NC, and this launch is one of the first times their clothing will be featured in a physical store.  Talk about exciting!  In honor of this launch, DEMODE and Estate Boutique are hosting a launch party this Friday, August 1st, in downtown Raleigh.  Now, it’s a limited event, but tickets are available to attend for free while they last (click here to snag one!).  Come be a part of Raleigh fashion history and rub elbows with bloggers, photographers, and models at this one-of-a-kind event.  See ya there!

P.S. DEMODE’s new website is HOT!!!

British Invasion

The British are coming officially HERE in Durham!!!  I had the honor of hosting a shopping event at Nordstrom Southpoint last night in Durham, North Carolina (just a short ride from Raleigh), and I am LOVING the new Topshop section there.  It’s quite large, and the variety within the section is truly remarkable- they have everything from Blair Eadie-esque crop tops to overalls to kimonos and pearl-embellished knits!  I tried TONS of pieces on, and I have to say that for once it was truly difficult to decide which ones to get (which is a GREAT problem to have, right?).  They all fit really well, and I even picked up a basic grey tank top that is, in my opinion, the queen of all tank tops.  Be sure to check it out and attend the grand opening of Topshop at Nordstrom Southpoint this Saturday from 1-5 pm!  It’s sure to be a blast.

Though I didn’t take my Nikon along with me, I snapped some pictures with my phone of the setup and some favorite pieces that are at Nordstrom Southpoint (get ’em while they last!):

Spring has finally arrived in Raleigh, and warmer weather calls for some music festival inspiration.  I have loved fringe since I was a kid, but never took the plunge to try and rock it until now.  I love music festival fashion so much, and I’m trying to incorporate elements of it into my daily outfits, which is totally appropriate for summer.

Speaking of summer, I’ve teamed up with a local Raleigh surf shop, Whalebone Urban Surf Shop, to start a series of swimwear reviews and informational videos.  I’ll cover a variety of brands like L*Space, Vix, Vitamin A, etc. and new styles from those brands to help you guys out with your swimwear shopping!  I’m so excited to take this on, and keep an eye out for the first video of the series- a thorough rundown of swimsuit care and maintenance.  Gah, so exciting!

Redress Raleigh Recap

DSC_0035

So, I was able to attend Redress Raleigh’s fall fashion expo this past weekend, and I have to say that I had a fantastic time!   For those who don’t know, Redress Raleigh sometimes hosts fashion expos that highlight local eco-fashion designers and vintage boutiques.  This season’s expo was small, but fabulous, and I have to say that I’ve fallen head over heels for some of the local talent we have here in North Carolina.  It was so difficult to not spend a fortune at the marketplace.   Who would have thought that sustainable fashion would be so… fashionable?!  I love it!  Here are some of my favorites from the event:

Clutch from Fashion & Compassion

Fair trade patterned top at Symbology Clothing.
This was one of my favorite pieces of clothing at the expo; I can just imagine styling a FIERCE outfit with this.

Hand printed patterned tunic at Symbology Clothing

Zass Design

Tiffany Coley earrings

I loved the brooch detail at the point of gathering on this coat. Fantastic styling

Beautiful oversized clutch by Natural True Beauty.
There was a leopard one that was AMAZING.

Natural True Beauty

I’m pretty sad that my pictures of an oversized leopard print clutch from Natural True Beauty didn’t turn out well, but let me just say that it was SO fantastic.  If you’re intrigued, you can check it out on their website here.

I’m excited to see what other events are in store for next season in the North Carolina fashion and style world (and next year even – Let’s just say that I’ve already been talking to Couture for a Cause about next year!!!).  Either way, I’ll keep you updated!

The changing of the North Carolina leaves has served as a beautiful picture of my life right now.  There is so much change happening, especially with planning a wedding, that it can sometimes be overwhelming.  Watching the leaves change over the past week has been such a relaxing and therapeutic experience for me (it’s definitely something I never experienced in Florida).  I just wanted to share some North Carolina beauty with you all!  I’ll be posting some fall looks soon 😉

New Triangle Thrifting Page

Screen Shot 2013-10-28 at 9.22.37 AM

As a student and lover of fashion, I have found that higher end thrift and consignment shops can really be your friend.  Knowing this, I have decided to compile a listing of consignment and thrift shops in the Triangle, NC area (under Triangle Thrifting at the top of the page) to help my fellow fashionistas on a budget in the Triangle.  The list is going to be growing continually, so feel free to comment on the page if you have a shop to add to the list!  Shop on, my friends.
